"A Navy SEAL, who is the son of a local businessman, is on life support after accidentally shooting himself in the head in San Diego early Thursday.
According to reports, 22-year-old Geno Clayton, son of Clayton Heating & Air Conditioning Co. owner Gene Clayton, was handling the gun and pointed it at his head to show a woman he knew that it wasn't loaded. He pulled the trigger and shot himself, according to police. Reports state Clayton and the woman had been drinking at a local bar prior to the 2 a.m. shooting, which took place at a house in Pacific Beach.
Authorities initially reported Clayton had died, but he remains on life support. The Naval Criminal Investigative Service is assisting San Diego police with the investigation, according to police. A Naval spokesman said Clayton had completed the basic SEAL course and had just finished up his qualification training and checked into one of the Navy SEAL teams in the past week. "
