Yesterday, 9th January 2012, protests were staged across Nigeria over the recent fuel subsidy removal by the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. This has caused lots of chaos in Nigeria. Several opinions and thought are being posted on social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter, Forums etc... Lets post the situation reports in our areas.

This thread is created to allow us post situation reports over fuel subsidy removal protests in Nigeria. While I will be sharing some that I read, do also share yours for the Nigerian voices to be heard globally! Thanks.

They Made This Call At The Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos, During The Second Day Of The Nationwide Protests Against The Removal Of Subsidy On Fuel By The Federal Government. Addressing the crowd, Bakare Said The Goodluck Jonathan Administration Had Demonstrated Its Lack Of Competence In Tackling Corruption And Other Problems, Including The Insecurity Facing The Country.

He Said President Jonathan's Refusal To Bow To The Will Of The Citizens, Who Were Calling For The Reversal Of The Fuel Pump Price To N65, Amounted To Disrespect To The Citizens' Sovereign Power.

They Urged The President To Resign If He Could Not Find Any Solution To The Problems Confronting The Country..**

The cabinet members are said to be grumbling secretly about the removal of the subsidy amidst the serious security tension in the country earlier than the anticipated date.It was learnt that the announcement of the removal of the subsidy on New Year's Day came as a shock to many FEC members, who were anticipating the removal in April 2012 as announced by the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation last December.
