Title: Senate resumes today amid protests

The Senate said it will resume from its end of year recess today despite nationwide protests against the removal of fuel subsidy.Chairman Senate Committee Media, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe (PDP, Abia South) said the Senate will resume today as scheduled.  

Daily Trust gathered that on resumption the Senate is to go into executive session to deliberate on the issue of fuel subsidy and the state of emergency declared in 15 local government areas by President Goodluck Jonathan.  

The Senate is expected to also commence consideration of provisions made in the 2012 Appropriation bill.

Senate had mandated a joint committee to investigate the management of fuel subsidy fund while the appropriation committee is also expected to present its report on the budget.
