Eligibility:
This position is opened to all qualified Brazilian and foreigner researchers that have received the PhD degree no more than seven years prior to the date of application. The research will be mainly conducted at the Laboratório de Fisiologia Vegetal do Instituto de Biociências da Universidade de São Paulo (IBUSP) in Brazil, which is being currently equipped to offer a proper range of equipments/facilities, along with technical support to develop this research. The selected candidate will address a Postdoctoral project based on the identification, characterization and the functional study of genes differentially expressed during the C3-CAM photosynthetic transition in the epiphytic bromeliad Guzmania monostachia in response to water availability.

Scholarship Description:
Applicants should have experience in Molecular Biology procedures and demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas:
(1) CAM pathway,
(2) hormonal signaling,
(3) nitrogen assimilation by epiphytic angiosperms, and
(4) developmental physiology of epiphytic angiosperms. Previous experience working with integrative studies using molecular, hormonal and cellular approaches during signaling events that control the metabolism and / or development of tropical plants lacking sequenced genome is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to work in a team, and with full availability to international travels.
