Title: PhD Studentship in Engineering by Cranfield University, UK
Post by: horizon_skb on Jan 22, 2012, 09:53 PM
Cranfield University, in collaboration with Ford, has an exciting research opportunity that aims to develop the next generation factory simulation modelling tools to support Ford's future machining and assembly lines.

Ford's Power Train Operations, part of the Manufacturing Engineering division, has been using simulation modelling as an integral part of the decision making process in the design/improvement of machining and engine assembly lines for many years.

In response to the growing demand for better and more accurate simulation results from the management, the simulation modelling tools are continually being improved. However with a number of key metrics now requiring consideration a simulation modelling tool that can support Ford's Manufacturing Engineering to design/redesign their future machining and assembly lines is required.

Eligibility Details:

Applicants should have a First or Second Class UK honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant discipline such computer science, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering or mechanical engineering. Experience with operations research is also advantageous.

Application Deadline:
Application Deadline is 16 February 2012
