Title: Finland Presidential Elections: Niinistö and Haavisto Headed For 2nd Round

With 100% of the votes counted, the election has shaped up as a first-round victory for National Coalition Party candidate, former finance minister Sauli Niinistö, who will face off against internationally minded Green League candidate Pekka Haavisto in the second round on February 5th.

Below is the 1st round Results with 100% of vote counted:

Sauli Niinistö (NCP) 37.0%

Pekka Haavisto (GREEN) 18.8%

Paavo Väyrynen (CEN) 17.5%

Timo Soini (FINNS) 9.4%

Paavo Lipponen (SDP) 6.7%

Paavo Arhinmäki (LA) 5.5%

Eva Biaudet (SPP) 2.7%

Sari Essayah (CD) 2.5%

Finally, Sauli Niinistö won the race. He is now the president of Finland. Congratulations to him!

Yes, he will resume office as President of Finland 1st March 2012.
