Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has bemoaned the prevalence of torture and unlawful detention beyond the stipulated 24 hours by the Nigeria Police Force. He warned that henceforth, any policeman that tortured any citizen or detained him beyond 24 hours would be disowned.
