Nature and scope:
• The Head of Education & Development will devise, implement and manage the delivery of ACCA's education strategy for the region and will also be responsible for managing all key relationships with regulators, employers, government agencies, national accountancy bodies and related partners in markets without a national office in the region.
• The post holder will be expected to provide a broad range of services to ACCA tuition providers including universities, supporting ACCA accredited employers to enhance the quality of workplace learning support, working with different stakeholders to develop and implement innovative strategies aimed at enhancing access to tuition and study support across the region, building and sustaining relationships with education and training regulators in West Africa, and ensuring that ACCA is recognised as part of national education and qualification frameworks.
• He/she will also be responsible for managing all Joint Examination Scheme relationships in the region.
Key accountabilities:
• Contributing to national and regional ACCA business plans with clear milestones, budgets and objectives and ensuring the successful implementation of these plans;
• Management of approved budget for market and regional development activities, ensuring expenditure is appropriate and aligned to the strategy;
• Capturing and monitoring local and regional business intelligence relating to the market environment which may hinder or improve ACCA's position in the market, and adapting development plans accordingly;
• Identifying and working with internal stakeholders in the absence of a market head, to manage key relationships particularly regulators, government agencies, employers and other stakeholders in allocated markets;
• Provide support in the representation of ACCA in key national and regional foras, conferences and advisory groups;
• Working with non-direct reports and feeding into quarterly reviews and annual appraisals as requested;
• Working with different stakeholders to develop and implement innovative strategies aimed at increasing access to tuition and study support across the region;
Background and experience required:
• qualified accountant, or equivalent with a track record and considerable experience in multi-national organisations, business development, promotion and/or delivery of accountancy training
• practical experience of managing projects, preferably within an educational or training environment
• possess an innovative and imaginative approach to education and teaching methodologies and issues
• show an awareness of, and interest in, the changing environment of accountancy training and education worldwide
• capable of working at all levels with an open management style
• be able to demonstrate well developed written and verbal communication skills
