General Description:
• The COO plays a critical role. The COO position entails running the day-to-day business operations, freeing up the Managing Director (MD) to fulfill responsibilities as in any other business. The COO will be a vital member of the MD's core staff, working with the MD to develop and implement the company's long-term strategy.
• The creation of the COO position represents a major organizational step. The COO will be responsible for all major operational decisions, freeing up the MD to focus on important strategic decisions. Even so, within the overall policy framework and strategy defined by the Board of Directors of the Company, the COO will assume responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company and for the realization of corporate objectives. This responsibility includes management of all aspects of the company, product development, and facilities as well as general and administrative functions in order to achieve stated objectives, including plans for future growth.
• The COO drives the company's performance and achieves sustainable profit and growth, as dictated by the overall strategy agreed by the board of the Company and the MD.
• Reporting to the Managing Director, the COO will also be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the company and will manage Finance, Commercial, Technical, Human Resources, Health Safety and Environment, Supply Chain, Legal and Information Technology groups. In particular, the Manager shall perform the following tasks and duties:
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
Leadership
• Responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Group's business operations and ensure efficient use and management of resources towards achievement of the Group's corporate goals
• Provide effective and inspiring leadership, as well as stewardship of the company by being actively involved in all aspects of the day to day management of the company
Strategy
• Lead a high performing team to the next level by driving the development and implementation of the strategic plan and annual budget and operating plans to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the company's operations.
Operations and controls
• Taking charge of delivery of the entire Operational functions of the company, which is involved in multi-million dollar construction projects that have significant electrical engineering components.
• Ensure that operating objectives, policies and standards of performance are not only understood but owned by management and employees
• Ensure that the Company and its businesses comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements and, where appropriate, best practice
Communication and reporting
• Advise the MD on strategic business development, policy, budget, and make recommendations on major business decisions.
• To report to the board regularly on the operation of the Company's businesses both at board meetings and at other times
• Manage and oversee the monthly, quarterly and year-end reports including development of management dashboard
Technical
• Ensure that electrical construction projects and other projects are optimally designed, executed monitored and commissioned within budget and time frame according to international standards and world class engineering operational strategy and practice
Requirement:
• MBA from reputed Institute.
• Engineering degree is preferred.
• Over 20 years of related working experience. Experience should include planning, budgeting, executing, monitoring and cash flow management of complex construction projects.
• Training and certification on Project Management, CAD and Microsoft Office/Prima Vera (PMO) will be an advantage.
• Have a good understanding of the application of JIT, 6-SiCOOa or other methodologies for constant improvement in speed, reliability and quality in delivering of projects.
• Good understanding of the development and application of standards, processes and procedures.
