Essential Responsibilities:
The principal responsibilities of the Counsel & Compliance Leader, Nigeria, are to provide contract support to the GE Oil & Gas commercial team in Nigeria and to serve as the regional compliance leader to the business. This position reports to the Senior Counsel, Commercial Operations at GE Oil & Gas with a strong dotted line to the Global Compliance Leader for GE Oil & Gas and the local Nigerian management. In addition, the regional counsel will become involved in a variety of other legal issues in the region and provide support as needed to other members of the Oil & Gas legal and compliance teams. Etc.

Qualifications/Requirements:
•   Legal degree from accredited law school with a demonstrable superior academic record and training, and admission to bar.
•   Approximately five to seven years of legal post-qualification experience, preferably in a law firm, that includes, inter alia:
o Substantial "hands-on" experience in drafting international sales agreements;
o Substantial experience and success in working and negotiating with international customers; and,
o Experience in the Oil & Gas sectors preferable, but not required.
•   Strong command of international commercial law, including working knowledge of the principal international conventions and the uniform commercial code.
•   Knowledge and experience relating to compliance issues relevant to emerging markets, including principles of controllership, FCPA, corruption, conflicts of interests, self-dealing, tax evasion and anti-money laundering. Etc.
