Position Summary:
The Deputy Project Director will be responsible to the Project Director for day-to-day management of the DOMGAS project at the tactical level (for example, profitability, planned versus actual performance, how to meet staffing needs). Provide support, strategic leadership, direction and guidance for the project activities and controls.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Project Director shall have amongst others, the following primary responsibilities:
• Managing the interfaces between the project teams that make up the overall project,
• Managing subcontractors,
• Ensuring effective inter-group coordination,
• Authorizing project managers to perform work packages to specification, within time and cost limits, in accordance with project standards,
• Controlling work scope,
• Monitoring cost and schedule performance against the approved performance measurement baseline,
• Participating in Steering Committee meetings and decisions.
• The Deputy Project Director typically serves as the Acceptor for the work delivered by subcontractors and also serves as the backup for the Project Director.
Key Role Interactions:
The Deputy Project Director interacts with team members, customer representatives, and all other project management roles. However, the principal interactions of this role are with the following:
• The Project Director to address and resolve issues and concerns at the tactical level,
• The Contracts Manager (if applicable) to review and clarify statements of work and terms and conditions, and to negotiate effective contracts with customers and subcontractors,
• MAKON Project Managers of project units to define the scope of work, keep the project visible, share avenues of responsibility, and resolve interface issues between component subprojects,
• Project Managers from subcontractor teams to define the scope of work, establish and maintain a close working relationship, resolve interface issues, and ensure a joint commitment to the success of the project.
• Finance Department, HR, Procurement etc.

Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree in engineering, sciences or related discipline. An MBA is desirable and PHD will be an added advantage.
• 15 years experience in oil and gas & Engineering Marketplace is key and selling experience in a business to business and customers environment
• Experience managing client relationships to grow revenue within accounts
• Demonstrated stakeholder management
• Record of involvement in a complex sell at board level
• Ample experience in managing people in a multi cultural environment.
Competences and Qualities
• In-depth understanding of the Oil and Gas Servicing industry, including players, key trends and growth drivers.
• Posses a win-win attitude
• Very good knowledge and understanding of relevant local regulations guiding offshore operations in Nigeria.
• Understanding and awareness of critical success factors for operations within the Oil and Gas servicing industry.
• Understanding of leading practices in pipeline engineering, marine & sub-sea construction and maintenance oil and gas logistics support.
