Title: US Federal Reserve Projects Bleak Economic Outlook
Post by: MyWorld on Dec 14, 2009, 11:08 PM
Federal Reserve cut its economic outlook and hinted that the US economy would face a gradual, but prolonged period of recovery, amid deep global economic downturn. The apex bank projects that the US labor market will remain weak, with credit to the economy remaining tight, while inflation will stay low.

A revised GDP growth data from the Commerce Department shows that the US economy expanded by 2.8%, down from 3.5% earlier reported. Real GDP contracted by 0.7% and 6.4% in Q1 2009 and Q2 2009, respectively. In October 2009, unemployment rate rose further from 9.8% in September 2009 to 10.2%, representing a new 26-year high.
