Ivan Bella's second-half strike sent Velez Sarsfield second in the Clausura table as they beat Olimpo 1-0 on Monday.
Olimpo could have overtaken their hosts with three points, and they kept it tight until Bella struck in the 63rd minute.
The result left Velez two points off leaders Tigre and five ahead of their opponents.
