Title: PDP convention: 87 vie for 24 positions

AHEAD of the March 24 National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, 87 aspirants are vying for 24 national offices of the party.

Also, five members of the  PDP in Enugu State have filed a motion asking the Court of Appeal to restrain the national leadership of the party from conducting a state congress in the state.

The plaintiffs include the factional Chairman of the party, Chief Okey Ogbonna, Chief Oyibo Chukwu, Harrison Ogara, Steve Odo and Dr Joseph Onoh.

Joined as defendants in the suit filed Tuesday include the PDP, the National Working Committee, NWC, the National Secretary of the party, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Those to contest for the position of National Chairman, come March 24 if no consensus are Bamanga Tukur, Adamawa; Shettima Mustapha, Borno; Adamu Waziri, Taraba; Abba Aji, Borno; Adamu Bello, Adamawa; Gambo Lawan, Borno; Musa Babayo, Bauchi; Rufai Ahmed Alkali, Gombe and Ahmed Adamu Mauzu, Bauchi.

Office of the National Organizing Secretary, NOS which is zoned to North West has 10 aspirants, deputy National Chairman which is for South South has five aspirants; National Auditor which goes to South West has four aspirants  while the National Women Leader which is zoned to South East is having 10 aspirants.

Okey Muo; Nkwocha Mike; Udenze Chike Cletus and Ben Obidigbo while Chyna Iwuanyanwu is from Imo state.

Those contesting for the office of Deputy National Chairman are the present National Organising Secretary, Prince Uche Secondus from Rivers State; Senator Stella Omu, Delta; Jaja Sani Sam, Rivers; Bassey Samuel Ethothi; and  Nkpubre Edet Okon.
