LAGOS – No fewer than 10 companies have submitted proposals to the Lagos State Government for the Apapa Amusement Park redevelopment plan.

State Commissioner for Tourism and Intergovernmental Relations, Mr. Disu Holloway, who stated this, yesterday, while speaking on the forthcoming Black Heritage Festival and activities of his ministry, said the festival was targeted at attracting no fewer than 20 million people, including tourists across West African coast, Nigeria, Europe and America to the state.

It will be recalled that the state government, through the state Task Force on Environment, weekend, shut the Apapa Amusement Park and demolished several alleged illegal structures in the premises, citing environmental and security concerns.

Holloway said: "As at Tuesday, we have received 10 proposals from people, who want to redevelop the Amusement Park to a better standard. We are considering their proposal for eventual award of the contract. Though, the proposal is still open to others for consideration, the state is passionate about provision of total welfare for its citizenry and we will not shy away from it."
