BENIN – EKITI State Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Mr. Ayo Afolalu and three other members of the union, yesterday, died in a fatal auto-crash on their way to the union's 2nd Special National Delegates Conference, NDC, taking place in Benin City, Edo State.
The accident was said to have occurred on the Benin–Akure Road by the Nigerian Institute of Oil Palm Research, NIFOR, when the vehicle, with Ekiti NULGE number plate, they were travelling in reportedly had a head on collision with a lorry loaded with timber.
Ekiadolor Toll gate unit of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, Commander Mr. Olusesan Taiwo, confirmed the accident.
Immediately the news of the accident filtered into the conference centre, the delegates who had already arrived the venue burst into tears.
Consequently, the National President of NULGE, Comrade Ibrahim Khalee adjusted the time for the commencement of the conference from the original time of 11:00am to 2:00pm to allow delegates to over come the shock.
