WARRI—The Federal Government and Chevron Nigeria Limited, have agreed to meet the demands of the Gbaramatu/Ugborodo women who protested for a better deal last year.
Executive Director, FENOG Nigeria Limited, Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, made this known to newsmen shortly after a meeting with the host communities.
FENOG Executive Director said that issues which led to the protest by the angry women have been resolved amicably and all was now set for FENOG Nigeria Ltd to return to site.
He said: "As you all know, the protest of last year was a major setback to the Escravos/Warri Gas Pipeline project that we are handling for Nigerian Gas Company/Zakhem. The good news now is that both the Federal Government and Chevron have agreed to meet the demands of the Gbaramatu/Ugborodo women.
The project is very dear to both the Federal Government and NNPC hence they have responded positively to the demands of the women. NNPC has instructed Chevron to provide the affected communities with electricity and any moment from now, we will go back to site to complete the project for the benefit of all Nigerians."
