Katsina -The Katsina State Government has set up a seven-member committee to investigate last week's fire incident which destroyed Gov. Ibrahim Shema's office.
Inaugurating the committee in Katsina on Wednesday, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muntari Ibrahim, said the governor's office was a public office, hence the need to make the cause of the fire public.
"The public has the right to know the cause of the fire and measures taken to prevent a recurrence, hence the resolve to set up this committee,'' Ibrahim said.
He said the committee had Alhaji Hamza Yusuf, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice as Chairman.
Other members of the committee are the director of the State Fire Service, representatives of Nigeria Police Force, State Security Service and the Ministry of Works, he said.
Ibrahim said the committee would determine the immediate and remote causes of the fire, compile a comprehensive inventory of damaged documents and proffer a solution through suggestions that would prevent future occurrence.
He said that the committee had two weeks to complete the assignment.
Responding, Hamza promised that the committee would do a thorough job. (NAN)
