In my submission today, I would like us to reflect on what I call LIKE NIGERIA, LIKE AMERICA.
Like Nigeria in this context is referring to Nigeria as a country and other African nations and like America on the other hand refer to America as a country and the entire western or European countries.
Many of us today in Nigeria are fast to compare ourselves with America, we envy their success and always wondering why our situation is different. In the quest of some people to justify our present situation, we blame our situation on slavery and colonialism which in my opinion contributed to the situation, but our challenges is far more than that. I think their ability to enslave or colonize us is another fact that they were more powerful and wiser at that time because it takes wisdom to trick a fool and it takes power to conquer the weak.
THE POINT TO NOTE
America is bigger than Nigeria, and Nigeria is said to be a multi ethnic AND multi religious society, which many concluded that is the reason behind pour various challenges, but America on the other hand is not just a multi ethnic or multi religious society, but it is also a multi racial society which is more complex than Nigeria. The story of America should at least encourage us to stand in trying times to resolve our differences.
From their story, America fought many internal struggle, unimaginable marginalization, corruption and they grew from these situation to becoming what we all see and envy today.
For any little problem in Nigeria, all the region threaten with break up, the north has threatened a break up, the east, west and south all threatened at one time or the other, yet we still envy America. If America had broken away, will there be any thing we would envy? we envy them without knowing their story or what challenges they conquered before being the best. Instead of us all to stand on what is right and fight for our rights, we would result to tribal, regional or religious sectionalism. I would appeal to you all to know the story before you envy the glory, because that glory you envy today in America came by struggle and hard working, not by the threat of breaking away, tribalism or sectionalism. They came from different background, region, religion etc and grew beyond their differences and embrace one country, one America, one flag under the language they all sing every day that God Bless America.
I hereby call on us all to look beyond our differences and form a stronger bound that would be a thing of envy. We should erase the notion of breaking away or tribalism from our heart and embrace the truth of fighting for what is truly ours in the most peaceful and sincere manner. Families fight, they even kill each other. this explains that irrespective of where you are, there is bound to be conflict. we should thereby engage in a conflict transformational attitude which would make both of us get more closer and better after resolving our differences.
We should unite under a the believe of One country, One Nigeria, an indivisible union which would help us strive for a greater future.

Economically, we are no way compared to them.But that doesn't mean they are better than us in everything.Not possible, Nigeria has its own positive sides too.
