LAGOS – A prominent Lagos-based businessman and staff of an oil and gas company in Lagos, Chief Eze Anthony, was, weekend, in Lagos, kidnapped by unknown gunmen. Report said the man was kidnapped at his 1, Eze Anthony Crescent, Akesan, Igando, a suburb of Lagos .
Details of the kidnap were immediately known, but sources at the scene of crime said the hoodlums stormed the area and started shooting before gaining entry into his premises.
According to sources, the victim, who thought his unwanted visitors were armed robbers, offered to give them whatever they wanted, but he was seized and taken away before a combined team of policemen made up of RRS, Anti-robbery team from Igando division including those from the command headquarters, Ikeja, in Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC, could arrive.
At press time, no ransom has been demanded by the kidnappers, while the police had assured that it was already on the trail of the kidnappers.
In another development, the police weekend two persons one of them in army uniform along Esther Adeleke street, Lekki phase 1, Lagos at about 3.00am Whereas, one of the suspects gave his names as Godwin Onalo, the man in army uniform was said to have refused to identify himself.
He was reported to be driving a Honda Accord Saloon car with registration number KJA 10 AJ. When the car was searched a military riffle marked KH9153 with 17 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from him.
The said Honda Accord Saloon was also taken into custody pending the outcome of investigation. Items also recovered from the second suspect who was arrested along Marina off Jazz 38 were 2 AK 47 magazine with 18 rounds of live ammunition, one locally made pistol cut to size, one packet of cartridges, 3 laptop and 17 GSM handsets.
The police public relations officer, Mr. Joseph Jaiyeoba who confirmed the arrest and recovery of arms and ammunition said the two suspects and exhibit have been transferred to the SCID for further investigation.
