WARRI—A Niger Delta group, the Ijaw Transformation Youth Movement, yesterday, threatened to mobilise the people to carry out a mass protest against the Federal Government, if it does not fast-track work on the completion of the East-West Road, a vital link road and other federal projects in the region.
National president of the group, Mr. Jerome Demebide, in a statement, bemoaned a situation where elected public office holders and political appointees from Ijaw ethnic group and Niger Delta region, often placed their personal interests above the needs of the region.
He said it was scandalous that there was no good road network in the coastal parts of the oil-rich region, two years after the President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is from the region came to power.
