Title: Eminent Nigerians sue Jonathan, others over fuel price hike

A coalition of 50 eminent Nigerians has sued President Goodluck Jonathan; Senate President, David Mark; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal; the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency and the 36 state governors over the January 1, 2012 fuel price hike.

They include Prof. Ben Nwabueze; Balarabe Musa; Dr. Tunji Braithwaite; Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu; Prof. Pat Utomi; the late Gani Fawehinmi's widow, Ganiyat; Shehu Sani; and Dr. Fredrick Fasheun.

In the suit filed before Justice Adama bello of a Federal High Court in Abuja, they are seeking the reversal of the hike of fuel price from N65 to 97.

The suit, which was filed by their lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, has been slated for mention on May 22, 2012.
