Title: World Bank palaver
Post by: Punch on Apr 06, 2012, 08:00 AM
The clamour by President Goodluck Jonathan for the election of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for the World Bank presidency leaves much question unanswered about patriotism. Last year when Jonathan's tenure started, he waited forĀ  three months expecting Okonjo-Iweala to resume before government business kickstarted. Now that the economy is at a crossroads due to a haphazard implementation of economic policies, such as oil sector deregulation, bank reforms, and the SURE document, all championed by the Minister of Finance herself, leaving her to go to the World Bank now is quite a great disservice to the nation. This makes one ponder where lies the national love.
