First executive governor of Edo State, Chief John Oyegun has resigned his membership of the All Nigeria Peoples Party.

The decision was contained in a letter titled: “Resignation of my membership of the All Nigeria Peoples Party” and addressed to the party’s National Chairman, Dr. Ogbonnaiya Onu.

Chief Oyegun, who is also the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the ANPP, said he will not challenge what he termed his unconstitutional suspension from the party.

According to him, such move “will be a totally sterile exercise and waste of precious time and effort.”

The former governor while praying that the party woke up from its deep slumber before it becomes too late, said it adopted the worst option by “scavenging for a non-party member from one of the briefcase political parties to be its candidate.”
