A security guard attached to Ikpoba Okha Local Government Council is lying critically ill in an undisclosed hospital in Benin, following injuries he sustained when armed robbers raided and vandalized about twenty one offices within the council premises Thursday night at Idogbo.
Saturday Vanguard gathered that three security guards were said to be on duty when armed robbers struck injuring one in the process.
They thereafter ransacked the council offices with the hope of finding money following information that the council staff were paid their March salary till late Thursday evening.
It was further gathered that the bandits who reportedly gained entrance through the low perimeter fence of the council secretariat at about 1am got hold of one of the three security guards on duty and beat him to pulp with gun butts.
The battered guard was then dragged through the offices of the treasurer, the Senior Accountant, Head of Service, Cashier, Head of department in charge of Environment among others before being left in his pool of blood in one of the council halls.
