Roles and responsibilities
Overall Purpose of the Position:
The creative writer will be based in Bauchi state and may be required to work in Sokoto depending on the specific deliverables. S/he will support the KM&C Specialist in developing specific publications demonstrating project successes based on the TSHIP 2012 publications plan.
Main Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:
• Assist in developing content for a range of TSHIP publications (see deliverables) for dissemination internally or externally;
• Conducts research to obtain factual information and authentic detail;
• Reviews, submits for approval, and revises written material to meet international standards and satisfy TSHIP needs;
• Confer with the KM&C Specialist to discuss development changes or revisions; and
• Perform other duties as required.
Skill set Required Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree and eight years of technical writing experience especially for a donor-funded project
• Superior command of English language.
• Excellent writing skills; strong researching and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of MNCH/FP/RH issues
• Possess exceptional eye for detail
• Remarkable command of MS Word, and MS Office and Graphics design proficiency, including Photoshop, CorelDraw
• Excellent time-management and prioritization skills.
• Profound ability to perform gracefully under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong willingness to be flexible to project needs
• Remarkable ability to perform as part of a team as well as individually.
Key Deliverables:
• Develop content for four issues of the TSHIP Newsletter, Advancing Health
• Write 12 success stories and case studies
• Develop position papers for TSHIP thematic areas based on the respective strategy documents
• Develop a variety of short articles for upload on the TSHIP website and social media platforms
• Updated project brochure
• Abridged quarterly reports (two)
