I am glad to see that the Federal Government has built schools for the Almajiris who are all in the northern part of Nigeria. The questions agitating my mind are: Since independence, are the northern leaders closing their eyes to the plight of these Almajiris? What is the civic responsibility of the parents of these so-called Almajiris or are they all orphans? And lastly, when will the northern leaders realise that their primary responsibility is first to their youths who are incidentally the Almajiris to whom the future of the North and Nigeria as a whole belongs?
