Title: NIPOGA: Officials boycott games
Post by: Punch on Apr 19, 2012, 12:00 AM
Games officials at the ongoing Nigeria Polytechnic Games holding at the Federal Polytechnic Ede on Tuesday boycotted the games, forcing the cancellation and postponement of some events.

The officials, which included referees, umpires and judges in volleyball, athletics, chess, basketball, judo and tennis, refused to report at their duty posts following a disagreement with the Local Organising Committee of the competition.

The officials said the LOC failed to pay them their allowances as agreed before the games, and would continue to boycott the competition if the organisers failed to redress the issue.

NIPOGA Secretary General, Bartholomew Dalap, and Technical Committee Chairman, Dehinde Idowu, met with the officials but the discussion yielded no positive result.
