Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Olugbenga Otenuga, saysthe state's athletes for the 2012 National Sports Festival, coming up in Lagos, will begin camping in June.
A statement from the sports ministry signed by the press officer Rotimi Oduniyi said the athletes would camp in Ijebu Ode and Abeokuta, adding that issues concerning the athletes' welfare had been resolved.
Otenuga said, "We are taking part in 25 sports but only the athletes capable of winning medals will make the final team. The competition starts in November but we are opening the camp five months earlier to allow the coaches have enough time to prepare the athletes.
"Before the games, athletes who qualified will have the opportunity of competing in invitational competitions outside the country in a bid to aid our chances of winning medals. Governor Ibikunle Amosun loves sports and he has pledged to provide all the supports needed to win in Eko 2012."
