The Senior Manager, Business Development will forge long term relationships with fixed and mobile operators and other key players in the telecommunications industry (e.g. operators, MVNOs, vendors, broadcasters, Applications Service Providers (ASP), distributors, regulators, industry associations etc. ) to ensure that the full range of Qualcomm's products and services are successfully marketed and sold in West Africa. The successful candidate will track business opportunities currently in progress in order to ensure completion of all commitments on a timely basis. The Senior Manager will facilitate communication between the West Arica region and MEA regional headquarters in Dubai. The successful candidate will be expected to produce reports and presentations for customers and QUALCOMM employees.
Skills/Experience:
Skills/Experience- Significant relevant industry experience from a fixed or mobile operator, broadcaster, device manufacturer infrastructure provider, or telecommunications consulting firm. Direct work experience in the region is preferred. – Must demonstrate a deep understanding of the mobile sector in West Africa, and have command of the strategic issues facing operators and how these operators tackle market challenges. – Must have the ability to grasp business and technology issues facing industry participants and how Qualcomm core capabilities can be brought to bear to effect winning solutions – Must possess technical skills and knowledge of program management gained in wireless telecommunication or a similar field – Must have established contacts at different levels within West Africa mobile operators ecosystem – Ability to pro-actively conceptualize and develop business opportunities in the telecommunications sector and to develop specific account strategies to successfully deliver Qualcomm's technologies and solutions – Strong account management and presentation skills. Must be able to convey complex ideas and products to a general audience – Ability to position evolving technical solutions and business models such that Qualcomm and its partners gain a market advantage
Additional Skills:
Must be fluent in English, with French being advantageous. Must have strong communication skills and proven ability to work independently and as part of a team. This is an international location. Compensation and benefits packages are based on local market rates.
Responsibilities
The main activities for the role will be to:
1. Develop a clear understanding and appreciation of the key factors influencing the market and the telecommunications industry stakeholders in Nigeria and other active markets in West Africa
2. Be recognized as a Qualcomm expert among operators and other stakeholders in the West Africa region. He or she will be adept at applying Qualcomm solutions to customer problems
3. Build effective relationships with relevant staff at the target operators and other ecosystem players, so that Qualcomm can understand the key strategic goals of the operator/ecosystem player in order to structure Qualcomm offers.
4. Be Qualcomms main interface to the operators, to provide consistency in the message sent to the operators. This role will also be the operators point of call when they need to engage Qualcomm
5. Facilitate and lead the execution of programs or projects between Qualcomm departments and operators while ensuring that projects deliver to that operator's strategic requirements. Successful execution of these programs will be a key performance metric for this position.
6. Investigate new opportunities for new Qualcomm technologies or ventures within the target markets. This includes strategic initiatives that Qualcomm may pursue with the public sector (Wireless Reach)
7. Share knowledge and understanding of effective strategies with the rest of the Qualcomm MEA team.
Required: Bachelor's
Preferred: Master's, Business Administration or equivalent experience
