Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Sanusi Lamido Sanusi will be conferred with a traditional title of Danmajen Kano by Emir of Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero, Daily Trust has learnt.
Kano Emirate Council approved the conferment of the title following elevation yesterday of the former holder of the title and district head of Dawakin Tofa, Alhaji Yusuf Nabahani Ibrahim, who is now Madakin Kano and a Kano kingmaker, it was learnt. Ibrahim was promoted Madakin Kano following the death of the holder of the prestigious title Alhaji Sanusi Ciroma Yusuf who also doubled as district head of Kano municipal besides being a kingmaker.
Daily Trust learnt that the CBN governor has since been notified of the decision of the emirate to honor him with the title which is only reserved for Kano princess. The CBN governor, was said to have accepted the title.
The correspondent reports that Sanusi's friends and well wishers have begun trooping to Kano home of the CBN governor to rejoice with members of his extended family over the development. It was also learnt that Sanusi's surviving mother was said to be in high spirit upon learning of the emirate's decision to honor her son.
Findings have it that there will be a grand celebration in the ancient city of Kano when the official turbaning comes up in no distant future.
