The Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, on Tuesday said for foreign investors to take Nigeria seriously, President Goodluck Jonathan must make power generation a priority.
Oba Erediauwa said it was time for President Jonathan to do something positive about epileptic power supply and gas flaring in the country.
He spoke while playing host to Senior Executives of Course 34 of the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru, Jos.
The Benin Monarch, who recalled how he once wrote to Senator Liyel Imoke, the former Minister of Power, on how to improve power situation and reduce gas flaring in the country, advised President Jonathan to release states’ allocation as at when due.
Oba Erediauwa disclosed that he was not happy that Finance Minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonja-Iweala, failed to get the World Bank job, adding that Nigeria would have benefitted from it.
He urged the executive members of Course 34 to give useful advice on policies that will be of good benefit to the government and Nigerians.
The Director- General of the Institute, Prof. Tijani Mohammed, said they were at the palace to interact with the institution and the people.
He disclosed that President Jonathan told them to consult widely and had assured them that their recommendations will be accepted by the government.
