Title: PDP charges members

PORT-HARCOURT— NATIONAL Vice- Chairman of Peoples' Democratic Party, PDP, in the South-South Zone, Dr Stephen Oru, has enjoined members of the party to obey constituted authority and urged the people to put to practice what they preach by following due processes in the resolution of conflicts.

He spoke while inaugurating the Zonal Working Committee, ZWC, of the party in Port-Harcourt.

He said: "I appeal to all of you to respect our party structures at all levels and obey party rules and regulations as enshrined in the PDP Constitution, 2009, (as amended). Let us join hands together and enthrone the best democratic practices that will take our great party to the next best level."

He promised that during the tenure of ZWC, it would "enthrone good democratic practices and work in tandem with other party structures at all levels; computerise our zonal headquarters; build a zonal headquarters befitting of our zone; embark on resolution of disputes and ensure and promote party discipline."

Oru, who is also chairman of the party in the zone further promised amongst other things to promote patriotism through retreats and seminars or workshops with the support of our amiable governors that would lead to human capacity building, self employment and empowerment of both youths and women."

Continuing, he said; "I believe that the renaissance of our party in the South- South zone is here and we must rise up to ignite it. Together, let us grow our footprints in the sands of time. Let us promote ways, reforms and various agenda that will yield positive results for the growth and development of our great party in the zone."

In his goodwill message, Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha Jonah, rtd, urged members of the party in the zone to give the Edo State PDP all the needed support in the forthcoming governorship election in the state so as to reclaim the state from the Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN.
