Title: Tanzania ministers face sack for graft
Post by: iolsa on Apr 29, 2012, 01:01 AM
Tanzania's ruling party has agreed that several government ministers should be sacked for corruption, as demanded by President  Jakaya Kikwete, a party official said Saturday.

"The central committee has endorsed the president's plan and wants him to change the cabinet as soon as possible," Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party spokesman Nape Nnauye said in a statement.

"Legal action should also be taken against all implicated ministers, government officials and executives of public institutions," Nnauye, the party's ideology and publicity secretary, added.

Tanzania's auditor-general, Ludovick Uttouh, recently handed Kikwete a report implicating numerous political and state officials  in cases of suspect procurements, bribery and fake job placements.

As a result of the report members of parliament demanded that at  least eight ministers be sacked and launched a debate on a censure motion against Prime Minister Mizengo Pinda if he failed to comply. - Sapa-AFP
