Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State has been confirmed to host the third round, first leg of the 2012 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup qualifier between Nigeria's Falconets and Congo DR at the MKO Abiola Stadium on May 5, the Nigeria Football Federation has said.
The state's warm hospitality and the luck it has brought to the various women national team's including Falconets were cited by the federation's Director of Technical, Dr.Emmanuel Ikpeme as reasons.
Ikpeme told the players at the FIFA Goal Project Centre along with technical committee chairman and NFF board member, Barrister Chris Green on Friday evening.
" The state has become a lucky ground for our women teams which we are grateful to His Excellency and Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for and the good people of Ogun State," he said.
"It is therefore only normal that we still go there and play.
In his own address, Greeen told the girls to remain consistent while he praised the defenders for the yeoman's job. "The defenders in this team are good because they have been able to keep the striking opponents at bay in the previous matches. This l want them to continue when you face Congo next Saturday," said Green.
