Title: PHCN workers protest non-payment of salaries

 (http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/thumbnail.php?file=POWER_849519784.jpg&size=article_medium) Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji   The premise of Ikeja Distribution Zone of Power Holding Company of Nigeria was on Thursday barricaded by members of the Nigeria Union of Electricity Employees, protesting the non-payment of their salaries.

[/size]The Vice-Chairman of Lagos/Ogun Chapter of the union, Mr. Etukubes Mbang, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that the workers were protesting the non-payment of five months’ salaries by the company's management.[/font]

[/size]According to him, the workers are also protesting the refusal of management to transfer allowances of those that were moved from one location to another.He said that some workers have not collected their salaries after the completion of the biometrics exercise.Mbang told NAN that the outstanding salaries were more than N390 million.The company’s Chief Executive, Mr. Chris Akamnonu, told NAN on phone that the management was working on the matter, adding that the issue would be addressed very soon.
