ENUGU – The police in Enugu have arrested six suspected kidnappers, including a woman in the state.
The police said the gang had confessed to having kidnapped a man at Ishielu, Ebonyi State even as the state police command has commenced investigations to ascertain their involvement in kidnap cases recorded within the state and its environs in recent times.
The female kidnap suspect identified herself as Chioma Obi, while other five male suspects gave their names as Offor Celestine, Sunday Onweh, Gabriel Agumi, Emmanuel Awoke and one Hyacinth.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed their arrests on April 30, saying, "the suspects were arrested at about 12:30pm by a team of policemen led by Inspector Aye Emina on patrol duties along Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway, acting on the information they had received from members of the public concerning the suspected hoodlums.
"The informant had disclosed that the gang operating in a Coal City taxi cab with registration number XV 337-ENU and fleet No. 177 had left Ebonyi State for their nefarious activities in Enugu.
