Algiers, Algeria -
An alliance of Algerian Islamist parties has predicted its parties will get the most votes in Thursday's parliamentary election.
Abou Djara Soltani, the head of the Movement of Society for Peace, one of three parties in the alliance, cited polling data and research done by the parties showing Algerians were ready for a change.
He said Monday most people were deeply discontented and blamed the two main government parties, which currently hold the most seats in parliament, for their troubles.
Islamist parties have dominated elections over the past year across North Africa.
Algeria's government parties, however, have predicted Algerians wouldn't choose Islamist parties and expected to continue dominating the parliament.
With 44 parties to choose from, most observers predict a fragmented body. - Sapa-AP
