(http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/thumbnail.php?file=NNPC_391275424.jpg&size=article_medium) NNPC GMD, Austin Oniwon Edo State House of Assembly has urged the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Pipeline Products Marketing Company to stop the oil spillage from a damaged pipeline currently ravaging farmlands at Uhe village in Uhunmwode Local Government Area of the state.
The House tasked NNPC and PPMC to clean up the spillage and repair the damaged pipelines.
This was part of the resolution adopted by the House during plenary session on Wednesday, under matters of urgent public importance raised by Hon. Elizabeth Ativie.
Hon. Ativie said the villagers have been suffering from the harmful effects of oil spillage, which she noted has destroyed crops in the community farmlands.
She said it was not proper for a village without visible oil wells to suffer the effects of oil spillage.
The lawmakers later adopted a resolution on the motion, asking NNPC and PPMC to move to the site to clean up the oil spillage.
