Reports To: Manager-IT Service Management
Job Summary:
Provide accurate up-to-date information as required to meet business needs and help avoid excess maintenance payments or fines while lowering overall costs, e.g harvesting, software licence tracking, warranty-to-asset liking, assets re-use, asset allocation, budgeting and chargeback of IT services
Principal Functions:
Assist in defining Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) guidelines and operating procedures in order to improve quality of data (standards)
Populate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB)
Review and perform CMDB changes from RFC (Request for Change) requirements
Analyze configuration item data and relationships; identify data inconsistencies or anomalies and report on data discrepancies
Work with data owner to correct discrepancies in order to ensure that the CMDB provides accurate and up-to-date information always
Conduct physical inventories and audits of configuration management activities
Reconcile configuration items from other trusted data sources into the CMDB
Document receipt, identification, storage and withdrawal of all configuration items in the CMDB
Ensure regular snapshots and Configuration Baselines are taken and protected
Assist in job scheduling, data analysis and CMDB data synchronization of HP BTO tool
Develop scheduled and ad-hoc reports in support of Asset and Change Management processes through BTO SM Analytics
Audit reports and verify that results being reported are correct
Assist with HP BTO ITSM Suite administration in support of Change Management and Service Asset and Configuration Management processes
Review all RFCs submitted for quality; ensure records accuracy and completeness
Update changes according to CAB meetings and close out records as needed using the service management tool
Monitor change records during and after implementation to ensure updates are completed appropriately and timely as per Change Management Policy
Assist in monitoring and assessing process metrics, KPIs and process improvements
Support SACM and Change Managers in all other day-to-day activities
Implement a communications plan upon changes in the CMDB using the RACI model
Define IT asset management activities including inventory management, software licensing, procurement, warranties, vendor relationship management, cost accounting and retirement considering usage of a Definitive Media Library as appropriate
Develop a Service Asset and Configuration Management process model and structure
Co-ordinate configuration changes as well as conduct configuration management audits
Enforce version control and change policies within a code management system in order to support parallel software development
Establish and maintain an automated environment for producing regular builds; perform and monitor the build process to ensure correct build execution and co-ordinate engineering resolution of build failures
Manage and track multiple releases and deliveries
Manage and control all IT department assets
Design the asset management model and structure
Maintain detailed knowledge of current and best practices within own area of expertise
Recommend remedial action as and when necessary
Educational Requirements:
First degree or equivalent in any relevant discipline
Postgraduate/ professional qualifications in related fields/ disciplines will be an added advantage
Relevant certifications, e.g ITIL v2 and/ or v3 will be an added advantage
Experience & Skills:
Between two (2) and five (5) years directly relevant post-NYSC work experience within a technology environment focussed on infrastructure, networking and telecommunications
Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:
• Troubleshooting techniques and experience providing detailed root cause analysis
• Strong analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve issues in a variety of complex situations and with little or no supervision
• Good working knowledge of process modelling tools
• Excellent presentation skills
• Excellent administrative and procedural decision-making and judgemental skills
• Strong experience in other IT service management processes such as event management, incident and problem management, etc
• Strong database skills, e.g SQL and/ or proficiency in use of database reporting tools
