Former Ekiti State Governor Mr. Ayodele Fayose has described the dissolution of the 16 local governments as most appropriate.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Mojeed Jamiu, said Fayose spoke yesterday when he visited Fayemi at the Government House, Ado-Ekiti.
He said the dissolved councils were instituted by the illegitimate Segun Oni administration that was sacked by the Appeal Court.
The former governor said he was impressed by Fayemi's respect for the rule of law and that the governor waited until the court struck out the case by the chairmen before he dissolved the councils.
Fayose said the Constitution allows the governor to dissolve the councils in public interest and advised him to remain resolute in developing the state.
"The issue of dissolution of the councils is a closed case. They can reawaken it by going to court, but since the governor has dissolved them, they stand dissolved, " he said.
Fayose, who is the leader of LP in the state, also had harsh words for Oni.
He said: "The joy I have is that you are the one occupying this seat (Governor's seat). (Ex-governor) Segun Oni did not go through the process; he passed through the window to sit on the governor's seat and that was why he was booted out of office."
Fayose promised to support the Fayemi administration.
Fayose said: "You have no fear about the Labour Party. The Labour Party and the Action Congress of Nigeria are the same. LP is the other shoulder of the ACN."
The former governor urged Fayemi to treat the people equally but to be wary of sycophants whom he said may want to threaten his success.
Akure lawyer and rights activist, Mr. Morakinyo Ogele, yesterday urged Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi to probe the two-and-half years' activities of the sacked local government chairmen under the 'illegitimate' Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration.
Fayemi last weekend announced the sack of 16 local government chairmen and 177 councillors.
Ogele said the governors have unlimited power under the Constitution to dissolve illegal local government boards.
Speaking with The Nation in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the lawyer said the sacked PDP chairmen and councilors were hand-picked by the ousted Segun Oni government.
He urged Fayemi to spread the probe to parastatals, which he said have become the ocean of corruption for Oni's supporters.
The rights activist urged the present ruling Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to prosecute anybody who participated in corruption in the past government.
Ogele said it was the wish of Ekiti people that the councils' leaders were removed.
He said: "There is no way Fayemi can continue with the illegal activities of Oni's administration. The sacked PDP local government chairmen had become shrines of corruption where PDP members were worshipping and a bottomless pit for every character in the past government.
"The Micro-Credit organised by Oni had become the bank of all PDP members, where they withdrew money without anybody questioning them."
He warned PDP members against attempting to undermine the new administration and disturbing the peace.
