The National Assembly may soon commence probes into the nation's power and telecommunications sectors to check cases of epileptic power supply as well as the high tariffs being charged by telecom companies operating in Nigeria.
Honorable Adekunle Adeyemi, representing Ifo Federal Constituency of Ogun State in the House of Representatives, while interacting with journalists said the National Assembly may also soon probe the importation of generating sets to Nigeria in their bid to unravel the forces behind the epileptic power supply in the country.
Aside from the power sector, the lawmaker hinted that the National Assembly also has plans underway to look into the telecommunications and the security sectors.
"It is not only the cabals in the oil sector that will be exposed; very soon we are moving into the power sector, the cabals in the power sectors too will be exposed soon. Those people importing generators and are frustrating the power system in the country.
"After the power, we tend to go into the telecommunication; we want to know why we are paying so much for calls and other communication services.
"We still have the plan to probe the security sector; we want to know what went wrong with our security systems in Nigeria. By the time we finished all these, we would have achieved a lot in effecting a change in those sectors."
The Federal House of Representatives had only recently concluded probing the nation's oil sector as well as the capital market.
