The Super Eagles camp in Abuja took an upward swing, at Wednesday's training session following the arrival of Turkey based striker, Ekigho Ehiosun and players from Heartland and Warri Wolves. The clubs were on continental assignments through the weekend.

Eagles who are preparing for the friendly game against Peru in Lima were only 18 by Tuesday but Azubuike Egwueke, Uche Ossai, striker Sunday Mba, who scored twice against Liberia Lone Star in a friendly, and goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim's entrance swelled the training. From Heartland came in goalkeeper Dan Akpeyi and winger Obinna Nwachukwu. And with the full squad in camp now the battle for the 17 spots for Peru has taken a higher dimension.

Eagles coach Stephen Keshi said his policy was to prepare the team to be at their best in ball handling given the type of opposition expected from the South Americans.

He said, "Any South American team play possession football. They won't allow you touch the ball but when they know you can match them skill for skill – they will respect you. That is what I'm preparing your minds for and what lies in stock in Peru."

Ehiosun who was initially billed to travel straight to Peru but opted to join the team in Abuja also trained with the squad in Abuja.

But while the battle for the 17 spots heightened, indications are strong that Kwara United striker, Barnabas Imenger, may not make the team after all. The striker could not train with the rest of the team on Tuesday and also stayed out on the sidelines on Wednesday. The medics were still attending to his injured knee by late Wednesday and with the team list set for official release, his chances look dimmer by the day.

The Eagles are billed to face Peru on May 23. They will return immediately to prepare for the matches against Malawi, Namibia and Rwanda in the qualifiers for the 2013 Africa Nations Cup and the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The five players from Europe were to fly straight to the South American country.
