Rivers state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has confirmed that an explosive device was responsible for the explosion that wrecked a bus at a round about leading to Ikwerre road at Rumuokoro area in Port Harcourt city this morning
He told journalists that the occupants of the bus were suspected armed robbers going for an operation and had sticks of dynamite in the bus.
He also confirmed that four AK47 rifles were recovered from the wreckage.
River state commissioner of Police Mohammed Indabawa had confirmed earlier that two people lost their lives when the 10-seater bus ran into the round about and exploded.
Eyewitnesses also said that there were some other casualties who have all been taken for treatment. They also claimed there were at least four people in the bus when it exploded.
