TO mark the 19th anniversary of the annulled June 12 election believed to have been won by the late Chief MKO Abiola, the Ondo State government has scheduled the release of vehicles for the take off of free school shuttle buses for primary and secondary schools students in the state.
Governor Olusegun Mimiko will on the day commission and release for use 20 free school shuttle buses for the use of students of both primary and secondary schools in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, speaking in Akure yesterday said that the buses would be used only to convey students.
Giving insight into the operation of the buses, Akinmade said the buses would pick the students up in the morning at designated bus stops and drop them at the appropriate school bus stops after the closing hour.
Also, speaking, the state's Commissioner for Transport, Nicholas Tofowomo pointed out that the operation would be a pilot scheme that would soon be replicated in other parts of the state.
