A COALITION of Muslim youths, under the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO), has called for effective synergy between the country's security agencies, saying lack of coordination among security organs might further heighten the level of insecurity in the country.
The group, in statement jointly signed by its National President, Mallam Lawal Maidoki, and Secretary General, Mr. Kamal'ddin Akintunde, expressed concern over the conflicting statements credited to the various security agencies during crisis moments.
NACOMYO berated the Police and the State Security Service (SSS) for the contradictory explanations on the nature of explosives found with suspects, noting that such portrayed poor coordination and teamwork on the part of the outfits, just as it gave an impression of a cover-up.
The Muslim body advised the federal government to verify both claims with a view to establishing the truth and repositioning the county's security system.
Besides, they commended the security operatives for their dexterity in preventing another national disgrace planned by the suspected attackers of the Radio House and Force Headquarters.
On Boko Haram, NACOMYO urged government to continue with its various initiatives at the addressing the menace, including dialogue and state pardon, to end the violence being perpetrated by different faithful. "The Boko Haram insurgency was neither sectarian nor religious, as the public was being made to believe, but militancy, as reports have it that perpetrators cut across faith and components, attacking government formations, mosques, churches and of late, the press and the Ivory Tower," Maidoki said.
NACOMYO also appealed to the three tiers of government to provide good governance by redeeming electoral pledges.
It, however, lauded President Goodluck Jonathan's directive to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to act on the House of Representatives' fuel subsidy probe report to serve as a deterrent to others, saying the action gives credibility to government's anti-corruption crusade.
While criticising a Judge in Nasarawa State for walking out a lawyer for keeping a beard, it urged the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to discipline erring Judges to restore the integrity of the judiciary.
