Former heads of state Olusegun Obasanjo and Muhammadu Buhari yesterday commended Professor Emeritus Umaru Shehu for living a life worthy of emulation. They spoke at the launching of a book titled "A Life of Sacrifice" written by Abdurahaman I. Sade at Musa Yar'adua Centre, Abuja.
Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo, represented by Health Minister Onyebuchi Chukwu, said Shehu has made sacrifices that would not be forgotten.
Obasanjo, who described Shehu as a visionary administrator, said, "During my tenure, you were able to convince some Islamic states in having Polio vaccines. You are really a visionary administrator."
Buhari said he was envious of the life of Shehu, "I was amazed the first time I met the professor. He has personal integrity and is a great achiever to our country."
The Dan Masanin Kano, Yusuf Maitama Sule, said Shehu's exemplary life reminded him of the life of late Sir. Ahmadu Bello that was full of fear of God.
The book comprised biography, speeches, historical milestones that epitomise the life of Shehu.
