THE Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has condemned Sunday's suicide bomb attack at the Living Faith Pentecostal Church, Bauchi as a "reprehensible crime against humanity."
In a statement, its National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko and National Media Director, Zainab Yusuf, called on the Federal Government to adopt proactive measures to curb the spate of violence in Nigeria, especially in the North.
HURIWA stated that "the current pattern of carefully crafted vicious attacks intermittently executed against selected places of Christian worship in some Northern states by suspected armed Islamic religious extremists is a clear manifestation of an open agenda to create a general state of distrust, panic and mutual suspicions by the diverse people of Nigeria and consequently degenerate into a state of religious war and the destabilisation of Nigeria."
