Reports To: Senior Engineer-Fibre Infrastructure
Job Summary:
Support the planning, design and optimization of Etisalat Nigeria fibre network transmission infrastructure and architecture
Principal Functions:
Provide support and share accountability for the following key deliverables:
• Fibre infrastructure and network technology planning (SDH, DWDM, OTN, OADN and IP) for the national backbone transmission
• Optic network planning for the metropolitan ring and last-mile fibre network design
• Fibre interconnection transmission infrastructure to other telecoms operators
• Optic network capacity forecast and network capacity matrix and distribution
• Development of fibre network testing as well as setting handover criteria for completed fibre projects
• Development of processes and procedures for fibre network rollout
Collaborate with the Implementation team and develop schedules for fibre network rollout
Keep abreast of global and local best practice with regard to fibre transmission planning and design
Ensure that Etisalat Nigeria's fibre network design is in line with accepted global standards
Maintain in-depth knowledge and database of existing fibre transmission infrastructure which can be leveraged in target areas for transmission services and network development and expansion
Collaborate with Procurement in developing RFPs for fibre network rollout
Educational Requirements:
First degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or any other relevant discipline
Relevant professional qualifications/ certifications will provide an advantage
Experience & Skills:
Between one (1) and two (2) years' directly relevant post-NYSC work experience
Ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate:
• Intermediate-to-expert proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite
• Good understanding of mobile technology backhaul at the access, transport and core network layers
• Good understanding of IPMPLS and evolution of transmission backhaul towards an IP-based technology
• Ability to solve problems requiring substantial analyses and investigations related to network and system performance
• Ability to work actively and productively with cross-functional teams in achieving key business goals/ objectives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
