Linus Torvalds, US - Finnish software engineer who created linux open source operating system and Japanese stem cell researcher Shinya Yamanaka won a 1.2 million euro prize.
The two were honoured on wednesday(13.06.2012) afternoon by president Sauli Niinistö in a ceremony at the finnish national opera house.

The prize awarded by the Technology Academy Finland aims at highlighting innovations that are outstanding and enhance everyday lives.
Among previous winners of this prize is Tim Berners-Lee who invented world wide web(www).
